30 April 2026 – Eject, eject, eject! An outstanding presentation to a near capacity gathering, featuring Marty Susans (Mirage night ejection near Williamtown, 25 September 1967), Brendan Roberts (Mirage ejection near Williamtown, 30 October 1968), Bob Richardson (low level Mirage ejection near Laverton, 3 August 1972), Dave Rogers (F-111C ejection into Hauraki Gulf, near Auckland, 25 October 1978), Arthur White (Royal Navy Gannet underwater ejection trials) and Ringmaster Peter Norford, who supplied the attached list of ADF Ejections, 1951-2005 from his research. Norf also provided the following information:
“I believe there was universal agreement about the numbers of RAAF Mirages lost…..ie about 40-41….however…..
……after checking ADF/RAAF aircraft accident info last night…….a correction to Macchi numbers from yesterday’s lunch presentation/discussion…..
Macchis Lost/Written-Off: 27…with another 2-3 considered/listed as not economically viable to repair after an incident/mishap (eg heavy landing, runway overrun) towards end of service life.
Those who ejected from Macchis: 27….with some debate around several as late ejections….resulting in fatality.
Those killed in Macchi accidents (mid-airs, canopy separation, no ejection): 8….again, with some debate regarding several late/unconfirmed ejections.”
